The journey to riches

Goldzkeeper

So here is the story of a young goblins heritage in Azeroth.

Once upon a time a lost soul wandered the face of Azeroth, hunting more loud "DINGs", epic loot and gold to keep his basic needs filled.

Starting out in early BC, i dinged my first toon (hunter) to 70 and the very same day i decided that having a toon with nothing to do but sit in IF and hold on to stuff i might need and sell the few drops / items i gathered along the way, and so Goldzkeeper the warrior was born.

After a while my hunter became less and less desirable to play all the time, so it was time to try out another class. I read the descriptions provided on the character creation screen, and the priest class was all i was looking at. Throwing shadow sounded like my kind of deal, and a month later my priest was running heroics, when it was possible to get a group together.
It didn't take long before the little priest needed new challenges and so i experienced raiding. And OH MY GODS - i loved it! Being mutually dependent on each other in a group of 10/25 was an amzing experience to the little one. My raiding career stretched through all 3 tiers in BC and i didn't ever think it would become tiresome.

Come WotLK i quickly leveled my priest and this time around as a RL i dragged my guildies around the wonderfull revamp of Naxx, OS and EoE in 25player mode. It was good times, and we were only beat to realm first KT kill by a mere 8mins. That was my golden days in PVE. the next tier was the, looking back from present day, 2nd best ever. Both the little priest and the little hunter loved running Ulduar.
Tier 9 just about killed me. I never really recovered my mojo after this incredible booring tier of PVE content.
Yea we crushed ICC when it came out, and RS was fun the first time around as well, but it never really was the same again.

And here begins my time of goldmaking, even though i didn't know at the time.

It was a tragic event that started this period of my time in Azeroth. I experienced the ultimate gamekiller - one day i tried to log in my priest, and it said that my password was incorret!! i tried and i tried and i tried, and the i cried (not really, but it was damn near close)

The next thing was that i couldn't even get my account back for some stupid reason. So i thought feck all, i'll quit for good. Stupid game!!! True and genuine nerdrage Q-U-I-T...

And so 7 months passed, with only the usual withdrawal effects, but i stood my ground.

Then one day i saw a sale in my local gaming shop on a battle chest and there i was again. Starting from scratch again, I made a shaman and a paladin quickly leveling them to 80.

Then one day i was flying over Borean Tundra i thought id give that old account a final chance and made a ticket explaining the situation. Not even 20mins later i was contacted by the GM that changed my gameplay for good. He was one big apology, and within another half hour i only had to pay for gametime and i had 2 accounts.
This was amazing. I moved my new toons to the old account, and bought myself one of them nifty little authenticators.
Here i was - a banker and 4 toons at max level. I thought to myself it would be rather nice to be self sufficent, so i rearranged my professions to the following: Leatherworking, Skinning, Enchanting, Alchemy, Jewelcrafting, Mining, Inscription, Herbalism. I figured like that I didn't matter that i was damn near broke all the time, since i could make a lot of the things i needed myself.

Fast forward to dear Deathwing ruining Stormwind and everything changed in Azeroth - again.

Leveling at this point is a joke at best - its fast and gold flows like the sweetest river of honey. So all toons were 85 within weeks, but getting those professions to 525 was nearly impossible (or at least that's what i thought at that point).

I turned to one of my good friends, google, and started turning the web upside down to see if there was any shortcuts to a few thousand gold, and i stumbled upon a big and healthy community of goblins just throwing their personal experience at me. After a few nights of reading various blogs and fora, i grew tired of one thing - the continuous "TUJ" reference, that i didn't know what was. Again google had the answer for me, and, for the second time, OH MY GODS! What an awesome tool. Right away i downloaded auctioneer suite and started regularly scanning my local AH for price tendencies, while keeping an eye on TUJ (see now I'm using it as well). I picked up a few items here and there and all of a sudden i had 10k on my hands, up from 2k. I couldn't believe it. I was actually rich! I used my new fortune to level up alchemy, enchanting and leatherworking. But then i didn't know what to do - crafting stuff and selling, using the data provided by TUJ never crossed my mind for some reason.
So i turned to alt'ing again. Over the next 2months i leveled a mage, a druid and a warrior.
So there i was. 7 toons at max level - thats a lot of professions slots to fill. I had lots and lots of herbs and ores of all levels, since my 3 newest additions to my toon stable had those professions leveling up.

I was beginning to feel the itch. I had to see if i could make more gold off of the AH. I thought the obvious place to start was to study TUJ some more. So i did, and i thought that id start by simply crafting everything i could with a profit. Everything. It didn't turn out quite as i hoped, since i crafted classic, bc, wotlk and cata items altogether. Lesson learned - even though there might be a visual profit on TUJ, it doesn't mean an item will sell.
So i started only crafting cata items, and the thing that netted me my first 50k was the occasional flipping and enchants. Now i had gold enough to start rearranging my professions.

Shaman: Leatherworking / Alchemy
Warrior: Blacksmithing / Jewelcrafting
Priest: Enchanting / Alchemy
Mage: Tailoring / Alchemy
Hunter: Jewelcrafting / Alchemy
Druid: Mining / Herbalism
Paladin: Inscription / Alchemy

The only issue i had at first was the posting bit. I got the TSM suite, but damn that was a lot of stuff to learn. I watched a few videos of how to setup the add-on for selling glyphs and from there I sort of learned the rest myself. Soon i was selling every vicious piece in the game, every rare cata gem, every cata enchant (and a few select older ones), truegold en mass, beltbuckles, armor kits and a few elixirs, potions and flasks. It was too easy actually. It felt like taking candy from children (which btw is my least favorite activity). In the first month after using TSM i had another 100k in my newly bought guildbank. And so the income kept climbing untill i nearly hit the magic goldcap (983k). I couldn't wait so i bought a lot of items for myself. Thought i might as well use some of the gold i spend, and i was quickly down to 495k again. Then i went and bought myself 2 TCG mounts at low prices, and they haven't sold yet. That was 2-3 weeks ago, and adding in my stockpiling activities im now down to 130k liquid gold. And im not a sad panda at all - my stockpile along should net at least 1 million gold in due time.

And that was my climb to riches.
